Recently, ECUST Environmental Protection Association was awarded as “National Excellent Team” in 2019 College Students Environmental Camp “Green Road, Sony”, a core project of its “2019 China Education Support Project” organized by the Central School Department of China Communist Youth League.

Our school has promoted this event since we were entitled as one of the candidates. The members of the association went to SONY Digital Products (Wuxi) Co., Ltd. in May this year. Guided by professional tutors, 30 students from 10 universities nationwide (Zhejiang University, Fu Dan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Wuhan University, etc.) broadened their horizons and updated their knowledge about environment protection. In turn, they provided innovative ideas for “Plogging to Zero”, an activity asking people to run around university town as an act to promote the concept of environment protection. In addition, SONY invited our members to visit their “Garden Factory”, spread“Road to Zero” idea and shared some cases, which allowed our members to have a deeper understanding of environmental protection.

“Plogging to Zero” activity has been carried out several times in and out of our university. Themed as “Waste Classification, Green College”, it adopted “plogging+” games to encourage people in university and community to protect environment and teach them the right way to categorize the waste. In the process, they can also meet the like-minded. This activity advocated people to to pick up the waste on the road while combined knowledge about how to categorize the waste, maximizing the recyclability of garbage and allowing the participants to become friends.

College Students Environmental Camp “Green Road, Sony” is sponsored by Sony (China) Co., Ltd. and became a core project of “China Education Support Project”. Focused on Sony’s “road to Zero” concept, it organized training camp each year to improve the capability of college students and gave support to their environmental projects to improve students’ ability to tackle environmental challenges and promote sustainable development of China’s environmental protection cause. By doing so, more people will pay attention and take action to protect the environment and contribute to the sustainable development of our society.
